Movie Review – You Don’t Mess with the Zohan

You Don't Mess with the Zohan

You Don't Mess with the Zohan

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. Now, this is a very amusing movie, and I highly recommend you guys to go watch it, if only once is enough. The character Zohan is a very interesting mix. He is ultimately confident with himself, believes in his dream no matter what other people say, and he has a very huge … well, you know.

On top of that, he has this amazing ability in which he cannot feel pain. So, that comes with a certain plus. He can make flying kicks in the air, dodge and circumvent bullets from a machine gun. He can swim like dolphins, unscrew boxes with his tongue, and he can lift both his feet without him touching the ground. This guy must be a superhero or something.

As usual, I think Adam Sandler really fits in well with the character, even the Middle Eastern accent sounds believable. Of course, in the movie, he tells people that he is from Australia but still talks with Middle Eastern accent.

The overall storyline is very simple – expected for a comedy movie. Zohan is an Israel counter-terrorist who is tried of all the fighting and wants to move to America to become a hair dresser. He managed to become a famous hair dresser not just because of his skills as a hair stylist, but he also provides additional “services “to the old ladies coming to the salon.

Little does he know that his own past would come haunt him in the America. I would not spoil anything, but I would say that it would not be what you think. Some of the lines in the movie can be quite demeaning to the Arab community, so if you are sensitive about that, then do not go and watch it. Otherwise, it is quite an enjoyable movie.

Now, I might try some Middle Eastern accent for a while in office. Now that needs some practice.
